The Flat jockeys' championship tussle between reigning champion Oisin Murphy and William Buick is set to reach its climax this week as the truncated 2020 season concludes this Saturday, with both jockeys in action at Kempton this afternoon.

The battle for the crown of Britain's top jockey has taken various dramatic twists and turns throughout the summer, with Murphy always managing to hold an advantage at the top of the table. But with just six days left of the season, Murphy and Buick, who has had a profitable autumn spell to launch an unlikely bid at the championship, are separated by 11 winners.

While Murphy's 140 winners looks a sizeable advantage to Buick's 129, the Kempton card could have significant ramifications in the Flat jockeys' championship.

Oisin Murphy's Kempton rides today

1.50 Cwynar
2.20 Perfect Inch
3.30 Viaduct
4.05 Asamosa
4.35 Tribal Craft
5.35 Dono Di Dio

Murphy has six rides on the card and struck on Perfect Inch in the 1m fillies' novice, while Buick has seven rides at Kempton, including feature race winner Loxley.

2.55 Fantail
3.30 One Small Step
4.05 Ilza'Eem
4.35 Loxley
5.05 Sweet Promise

Buick has one more ride than Murphy and there is every possibility the gap could be reduced, which would make for an exciting climax to the campaign.

Murphy is booked for six rides at Southwell on Tuesday on his final day riding in Britain before heading to the US for the Breeders' Cup, while Buick will be going all out to reduce the deficit with nine rides at Newcastle on Tuesday evening and eight mounts back at Kempton on Wednesday.

The final days in the week could be defining with Buick booked for a host of rides on the all-weather at Kempton and Newcastle on Thursday and Friday before the championship culminates at Doncaster on Saturday, but Murphy goes Stateside to ride 2,000 Guineas hero Kameko in Saturday's Breeders' Cup Mile among other mounts.
