Confessional bids to bring century up in style
As horses get older the general idea is they are not as good as they used to be, but that is not the case with Confessional who lines up in the Ladbrokes Portland at Doncaster today for his 100th start in as good a form as he has ever been in.
The nine-year-old, trained by Tim Easterby for owner/breeders Terry and Margaret Holdcroft of Bearstone Stud, was beaten just a head at Haydock last weekend and has already won twice this year. He will be having his 13th start of the season this afternoon.
Soundness has been the key to Confessional's longevity according to Easterby, who said: "He's a very sound horse and very good limbs. He's a tough horse with a good constitution. We keep him sweet and he goes out in the paddock most days. He’s not a hard horse to train and doesn’t take a lot of work as he’s very clean winded.
