O'Leary: a big thanks to Willie for leaving us some crumbs
It says something about the table that Michael O’Leary has been dining out at all season when he referred to the €60,000 3m6f handicap chase as crumbs off that particular piece of furniture.
Gigginstown House Stud were crowned champion owners at the end-of-season extravaganza after another hugely successful campaign, and despite landing a Grade 1 novice hurdle with Dortmund Park and the valuable Land Rover Bumper with the exciting Commander Of Fleet, O’Leary intimated that Willie Mullins’ dominance made for a trying festival.
After Wounded Warrior had made every yard to win the 3m6f handicap chase, O’Leary joked: “I’d like to thank Willie for leaving us a couple of crumbs off the table here at the end of the week.”
