Ascot feast superb but Breeders' Cup still the cream of the crop
Ascot officials have hailed Saturday's Qipco British Champions Day card as the best since its inauguration in 2011 – but while the depth of competition is unsurpassed, next month’s Breeders’ Cup meeting will likely boast even higher-rated stars of the turf.
Chris Stickels, clerk of the course at Ascot, said: "We've had standouts before and were lucky to have Frankel for the first two years, but this season all six races are really strong. It's a fantastic card. I’m absolutely delighted and couldn’t have asked for more."
Horses of the calibre of Almanzor (Racing Post Rating of 126), Mecca's Angel (125), Found (124), Galileo Gold (124) and Minding (122) will grace the stage, but in terms of RPRs the world's best performers, such as California Chrome (133), Arrogate (131), Frosted (130), A P Indian (126) and Songbird (124), are all likely to compete at the Breeders’ Cup extravaganza – as, of course, could Found herself.
