Battaash (Nunthorpe Stakes, York, 2019)
I can't wait to see sprinters blasting home on the turf, and for a terrific example of controlled speed and aggression Battaash's win in last season's Nunthorpe takes some beating. There is no hiding place over five furlongs at York and the way Battaash travelled into the race before storming away in the final furlong is a superb sight to watch again and again.

Frankel (2,000 Guineas, Newmarket, 2011)
The earliest race I watched on television that I can still see in my mind's eye is the 1976 Grand National won by Rag Trade and I have been watching the sport religiously ever since but in all that time I have never witnessed a performance as jaw-dropping as Frankel's 2,000 Guineas win.
