It’s the novice race at noon at Lingfield that has set my heart racing and, in particular, the 27-1 available about Jack Of Trades.
On his debut over course and distance three weeks ago, Simon and Ed Crisford’s two-year-old had a bad trip. After starting slowly, Jack Of Trades was then unhelpfully keen, had a troubled run that left him last three furlongs out and still well adrift until making nice progress up the rail without being unduly bustled. He finished seventh of nine, beaten five and a half lengths but will surely do much better today.
