Graeme Rodway dissects Politologue's dominant Champion Chase success
In the latest of our new series analysing all the big races at Cheltenham, Racing Post tipster Graeme Rodway takes an in-depth look at the Champion Chase, won by Politologue.
The 2020 Champion Chase was the race that everyone was waiting for. The champion Altior taking on young pretenders Defi Du Seuil and Chacun Pour Soi in a mouthwatering contest.
That was on the Monday of the festival but by Wednesday it had been robbed of two of its stars, with Altior ruled out lame and Chacun Pour Soi pulled out with a foot abscess on the morning of the race. That left the way clear for Defi Du Seuil, who had dominated the two-mile division all season, to confirm himself a true champion. Or so we thought.
