'It's moved so fast for us - and all in the direction we hoped for years ago'
The in-form jockeys talk to Jonathan Harding ahead of Royal Ascot
There are similarities between Hollie Doyle and Tom Marquand, who both began this year on the crest of a wave, but the jockeys dubbed racing's golden couple have differences too – not least their schedules.
As if to illustrate the point, they arrive separately for our interview and Doyle, who appeared on TV that morning, was the first to take point on a sunny evening outside the weighing room at Chelmsford.
The 24-year-old would be forgiven for getting carried away after a record-breaking 2020, which ended with her finishing third in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, but that is not her style.
