Who do you fancy for the Gold Cup?

Pat Cooney, bet365Minella Indo has two wins and a second place in his three visits to the festival and, having run his best race of the season last time, looks the most likely winner. Al Boum Photo looks overpriced at current odds – he was a bit unlucky when a well-backed favourite in last year’s race.

Barry Orr, BetfairMinella Indo. A lot of people have written him off but his only truly bad run this season was in the King George when the cheekpieces lit him up. He used the Irish Gold Cup as a stepping stone last year and, while the form of this year’s renewal is questionable, his run there will have left him spot-on for a repeat win.

Lee Jones, Betfred This looks very open and I can see it being 4-1 the field on the day. Galvin probably should be favourite on his Savills Chase win and has everything you want in a Gold Cup winner. Of the others, Chantry House does nothing flashy but stays and jumps and there have been Gold Cup winners with a lot less talent than him.
