Saving the best for first. It’s something which Royal Ascot has a good stab at and the opening race at this year’s Cheltenham Festival has received as much excited pre-publicity as any of them. Sir Gerhard going for the Ballymore has dented that but Constitution Hill and Dysart Dynamo are still enthrallingly difficult to sort out at the head of the betting, while Jonbon, Kilcruit and possibly Mighty Potter have also shown star potential at different stages. None presents an unanswerable case but this looks sure to be a belting race in its own right as well as an irresistible look into the future.
