Field sizes have unquestionably been small for the season’s first five fixtures leading to a somewhat pedestrian opening salvo.

Of the five cards, only last Sunday’s Shillelagh & District fixture at Tinahely broke the 40-runner mark in what has been one of the most low-key starts to a point-to-point season.
