Enable may have been sent off at 1-14 when she had what was probably her last run in Britain at Kempton this month, but such is her standing that her presence attracted record betting turnover for an international race shown in France.

More than €1.93 million was staked on the September Stakes as Enable had her final prep before her bid for a record third Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp next month.

It had not originally been planned for the race to be broadcast in France but, such is the pulling power of Enable, it was added to the schedule following co-operation between the BHA and its French equivalent France Galop, broadcasters, French betting giant Paris Mutuel Urbain (PMU) and Racing TV International (RTVi), which delivers racing content from 61 British and Irish racecourses to pool betting operators around the world.
