British politicians may still be grappling with the seemingly impossible conundrum of Brexit, but the free movement of EU citizens is in evidence on the Rowley Mile on Wednesday as there is a strong European presence in the bet365 Craven Stakes.

Ten runners have been declared for the mile Group 3, and the weighing room will be crammed with talent from Britain and beyond.

While Frankie Dettori, Andrea Atzeni and, more recently, Gerald Mosse have become familiar figures on British courses, Christophe Soumillon and Maxime Guyon are infrequent visitors but have both secured rides in the Classic trial.

Dubai World Cup-winning rider Soumillon has been called upon again by Saeed Bin Suroor after the pair combined last month at Meydan with Thunder Snow. This time they team up with Royal Marine, who won the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on his final start at two.

Soumillon is set for a busy afternoon, with a further three rides, all for Bin Suroor, on the card.

Guyon will have his first ride for Roger Charlton as he partners Momkin, not seen since finishing runner-up in a Ffos Las novice last August.

Zakouski, one of five unbeaten runners in the race, is likely to go off favourite for the Craven and is just 8-1 in the ante-post betting for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas. He is trained by Charlie Appleby, who sent out Masar to win the Craven in impressive fashion last year.

Also on the card, Brando will try to win the Connaught Access Flooring Abernant Stakes for the third year in a row. The seven-year-old is one of eight declarations for the 6f Group 3.
