Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Empress Josephine will miss the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (3.35) on Friday after being scratched at the declaration stage.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained filly is one of four runners taken out of the Group 1 contest at the 48-hour mark, alongside No Speak Alexander, Parent's Prayer and longshot Fooraat, leaving 13 fillies in the race.

Empress Josephine was last seen finishing eighth at Royal Ascot in the Coronation Stakes, and that race's winner Alcohol Free remains favourite for the Falmouth.

O'Brien still keeps one 1,000 Guineas winner in the field, with Mother Earth returning to Newmarket in the hunt for more Group 1 success.

Ryan Moore is set to partner the three-year-old and will again take on Alcohol Free and Snow Lantern, who also runs on Friday for Richard Hannon and Sean Levey.

Mother Earth's 1,000 Guineas-winning jockey Frankie Dettori will partner with Indie Angel for John and Thady Gosden. The filly landed a surprise 22-1 win in the Duke of Cambridge last month.

Andrea Atzeni retains the ride on the Ed Walker-trained Primo Bacio after the pair last won a Listed contest at York in May, where they saw off Snow Lantern and Creative Flair, who went on to Listed success of her own.

Jessica Harrington, who withdrew Group 3 winner No Speak Alexander, also finds herself without a runner in the other Group contest of the day, as Impeachd Alexander was also not declared for the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes (2.25).

The two-year-old filly will miss the Group 2 alongside Hellomydarlin, who was set to partner with Oisin Murphy for George Boughey.

Boughey still holds a credible chance in the 6f contest thanks to Oscula, who was third in the Albany stakes under Mark Crehan.

Murphy will instead ride Desert Dreamer for the yard of Stuart Williams, with the pair denied a clear run at Newmarket.
