Shane Crosse revealed on Monday how he went from cheering to crying as he watched Galileo Chrome pass the post in front in the St Leger he should have won.

The champion apprentice, who turns 19 next week, was denied easily the biggest win of his career at Doncaster on Saturday because of a positive test for Covid-19 that prevented him from riding. It was the first time an Irish jockey has tested positive for coronavirus.

Crosse was informed of the news just 24 hours before the Classic and on Monday still had no symptoms. He said he felt 100 per cent and had never had more energy.
