Cheeky! Cheltenham racegoer takes a drink . . . from her binoculars
An early contender for enterprise of the year was logged at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day with ITV cameras spotting one female racegoer making use of a pair of binoculars with a difference.
As the runners for the Grade 3 handicap chase circled at the start, television pictures turned to the stands where the racegoer took a somewhat surprising sip from her binoculars.
A drink was lodged in one of the lenses and it was odds-against to be a soft beverage.
"Cheeky" was the instant reaction from the channel’s presenter Ed Chamberlin, who described the invention as the "binos-hip flask".
A tweet sent from the ITV Racing account went viral, with more than 15,000 people liking her ingenuity.
Last season's Long Distance Hurdle winner Beer Goggles is the horse who immediately springs to mind.
