Cazoo Derby hope Walk Of Stars could bid to cement his Epsom Classic claims for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin on Saturday after featuring among 11 entries for the Lingfield Derby Trial (2.40).

The son of Dubawi has scored on two of his three career starts, including in a 1m2f conditions race at Newbury last month that was won by Godolphin's dual Classic hero Hurricane Lane last season.

Walk Of Stars, who is as short as 10-1 for the Derby, is one of four Godolphin entries for the Lingfield contest. The others are stablemates Natural World and New London – who has been declared for Wednesday's Chester Vase – and the John and Thady Gosden-trained Franz Strauss.

Aidan O'Brien has three possibles for the Listed contest in Anchorage, Sussex and United Nations, while impressive Newcastle novice winner Lysander has been entered by William Haggas.

The race produced last year's Derby hero Adayar, who finished second to Third Realm before taking Epsom glory.

Appleby and Godolphin could also unleash leading Cazoo Oaks contender Life Of Dreams in the Oaks Trial (3.15), with the daughter of Dubawi as short as 7-1 for the Epsom Classic following her impressive winning debut at Newbury last month.

O'Brien could also launch a powerful challenge with once-raced winner Lily Pond and the regally bred Emily Dickinson among the 14 entries, while 17 have been entered in the Group 3 Chartwell Fillies' Stakes (3.50).

At Ascot, River Nymph could bid for back-to-back wins in the Tote+ Victoria Cup (4.05), but trainer Clive Cox has warned that his participation depends on whether ground conditions ease during the week.

Cox also has Aratus and Dance Fever among the 39 entries for the prestigious seven-furlong handicap, but with the ground currently good to firm, good in places on the straight course, River Nymph could be forced to swerve his target.

"He would want rain. He's in great form but appreciates ease underfoot, although he's a very good performer, especially at Ascot," Cox said. "I don't know whether we'll get that and we'd appreciate the forecast to be wetter than drier for him.

"Dance Fever ran especially well in the International Stakes there last year and is a happy performer on the Ascot ground when it's drier. Aratus was a bit fresh and the small field didn't suit on his comeback run. They'd be very much at home on the dry surface there."

Al Aasy and Third Realm are among 12 entries for the Listed Carey Group Buckhounds Stakes (2.20) on the Ascot card.

Haydock stages a lucrative mixed card headlined by the Grade 3 Pertemps Network Swinton Handicap Hurdle (3.00), which features last season's Greatwood Hurdle winner West Cork and Scottish Champion Hurdle scorer Anna Bunina among the 24 entries.
