Buveur D'Air could be rerouted back to Sandown as weather set to take its toll
Nicky Henderson will turn to next month's Contenders Hurdle at Sandown as the next best option for Buveur D'Air if Saturday's fixture at Haydock is cancelled due to weather.
Buveur D'Air is one of five entries in The New One Unibet Hurdle at the Merseyside track as he prepares to make his first start since picking up a freak injury to his off-fore hoof in the 2019 Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle.
The Haydock meeting is subject to an inspection at 8am on Thursday with the track waterlogged in places. Saturday's top-class card features four Grade 2 contests, including the Peter Marsh Chase, and significant rain and freezing temperatures are forecast later this week on top of heavy ground.
