Black Type customers told funds are safe as bookmaker goes into administration
Customers of online bookmaker Black Type have been told their funds and open bets are protected following news that the operator is set to go into administration.
Black Type's technology provider FSB is taking over the brand and has told customers using the brand's website and mobile apps that they will not be affected and can continue to use their account as normal.
A statement on the Black Type website said: "First and foremost, we want to assure you that this will not impact the account that you hold on the BlackType.bet website or app.
"Your funds are safe and any unsettled bets or pending withdrawals will continue to be honoured by FSB as they always have been."
It added: "What this news means for you as a customer using the Black Type branded website and mobile apps is that you will not be affected in any way. Your standing remains unaffected and you can continue to use your account as normal."
FSB CEO Dave McDowell said: "Black Type has always been a white-label partner of FSB’s.
"All the customer funds and open bets are 100 per cent protected and the end users should not be affected by this transitional period."
Black Type was launched in 2016 with the promise that winning punters would not be closed down.
The company, which was founded by Dave Gowers and Craig Nicholson in conjunction with Mylo Sangster – grandson of Robert Sangster – started out as a horseracing-focused brand.
Gowers left Black Type in 2016 and Nicholson departed the company two years later.
It is understood that the increased pressures of regulation on the sector had pushed the operation into administration.
