Sir Mark Prescott trains the only horse to have beaten Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Torquator Tasso in top-level company this year and hopes his stable star Alpinista could be an Arc contender in 2022, with owner-breeder Kirsten Rausing set to keep her in training.

Connections mulled the idea of supplementing the dual Group 1 winner for the Longchamp highlight at a cost of €120,000 last week but opted to stick to their original plan, with the Grosser Preis von Bayern earmarked as a final aim for the year at Munich on November 7.

Alpinista gained a first win at the highest level when beating Torquator Tasso by two and three-quarter lengths in the Grosser Preis von Berlin at Hoppegarten in August, with the third Walton Street since winning the Canadian International – form that Prescott admits has worked out "infinitely hotter" than he expected.
