Dude odds-on for Cup joy

DARCYS DUDE is odds-on to win the £10,000 Coral Puppy Cup final on Friday night at Romford.

Shock results have occurred in the competition on either side of Matt Dartnall’s even-money jolly, Fire And Ice, who won the 2024 renewal, in the 400m showpiece at London Road. Romeo Crusade popped up at 20-1 for Dave Mullins in 2023 and Nathan Hunt’s 14-1 Scooby Diamond scored 12 months ago.

Darcys Dude, the ante-post favourite coming into the event, is now odds-on across the board when he goes for Yarmouth handler Craig Morris in the £10,000 showdown.

He won his semi-final with a sensational 23.61sec effort, the fastest of the competition so far, and is one of two finalists for the Caister-based trainer, who also sends out 8-1 chance Westway Mario.

Michelle Brown’s Carrigoon Cece, the only bitch to make the decider, was next best on the clock last week and is the only railer to have qualified.

She is clear second favourite at 5-2, ahead of Dave Lee’s other semi-final winner Jacquesinthebox at 6-1.

Locally trained duo Populist and Paradise Probono are both big prices at 16-1 and 25-1 respectively, completing the line-up for Gemma Evans and Mullins.
