Dual Group 1 winner Saffron Beach is the latest superstar race filly set to grace Tattersalls' new Sceptre session in the December Mares Sale on November 29.

The sale will also see July Cup, Sussex, Coronation and Cheveley Park Stakes winner Alcohol Free offered, along with Desert Berry, the dam of this year's Derby winner Desert Crown.

Saffron Beach, trained by Jane Chapple-Hyam, started her journey to stardom by winning both her starts at two, including the Oh So Sharp Stakes.

She went on to finish second in the 1,000 Guineas last year before adding a maiden top-level win to her name back at Newmarket in the Sun Chariot Stakes. She also struck in the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown in between.

The daughter of New Bay returned this year as good as ever. After a decent fourth in the Dubai Turf, she registered an easy success in the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes and followed up at the top level in the Prix Rothschild.

She was most recently second to Pearls Galore in the Matron Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend.

Bred by China Horse Club, the four-year-old is from the first crop of Ballylinch Stud's exciting sire New Bay and out of the winning Raven's Pass mare Falling Petals.

Saffron Beach's half-sister by Australia, Providenciales, sold from Ballylinch to Blandford Bloodstock for 450,000gns at Book 1 last year. She is in training with John and Thady Gosden.

Falling Petals is a half-sister to Middle Park Stakes third Huntdown and to Continua, the dam of Group winner and King's Stand Stakes second Cotai Glory, a leading second-season sire for Tally-Ho Stud.

Chapple-Hyam said: "Saffron Beach is a very special filly. Gorgeous and supremely talented, she is also unbelievably brave and consistent. Fillies like her do not come around very often."

Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony added: "The wide margins of both her Group 1 wins are testament to Saffron Beach’s exceptional ability, and she has been an outstanding race filly for Jane Chapple-Hyam and her owners.

"It is an honour and a pleasure to be asked to offer a filly of her calibre at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale and there is absolutely no doubt she will be one of the highlights of the new Sceptre session."
