Grand Prix de Paris hero Erupt is set to go after first winner
Son of Dubawi struck in a maiden event at the Vaal

Erupt, the classy son of Dubawi standing at Maine Chance Farms in South Africa, claimed his first winner as a stallion on Tuesday when Set To Go took a maiden event at the Vaal.
The earliest runners have only just been appearing by Erupt, who was owned and bred by the Niarchos family and went right through the grades after making his debut at three for Francis Graffard to winning the Grand Prix de Paris.
He was to finish fifth in Golden Horn's Arc and added to his record as an older horse by finishing second in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and winning the Canadian International.
Erupt is out of the Caerleon mare Mare Nostrum, a Group 3 winner in France who was placed twice at the top level. He is a half-brother of the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes winner Marie De Medici, dam of Godolphin's very smart Local Time.
There are 42 registered in Erupt's first crop and Set To Go, trained by Paul Peter and bred by the Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm out of Grade 3 Jet Master mare Jet Set Go, was one of four previous runners having finished second on his debut at the same track earlier this month.
The result should do his prospects no harm with five offspring catalogued for the Cape Premier Yearling Sale on February 6.
