Canadian teenager Felix Auger-Aliassime has not yet reached the heights many were anticipating but he still has time on his side and could represent a touch of value in his Rotterdam curtain-raiser against Jan-Lennard Struff.

This is a match Auger-Aliassime, who achieved a career-high ranking of 17 following a final appearance in Rio and a run to the last four in Miami, would have been sent off favourite for last season.

Now down to number 21 in the world, Auger-Aliassime has taken time to get going in 2020 but his potential is evident for all to see and it shouldn’t be long until he gets another shot at silverware.

Struff continues to improve and has been the more consistent player in recent times but Auger-Aliassime has another gear and a small step forward on his latest efforts could see him come out on top.

Jelena Ostapenko’s recent performances suggest she is returning to somewhere close to her best and she can justify favouritism against Alize Cornet in St Petersburg.

The Latvian ace ended 2019 with a final defeat to Coco Gauff in Linz before going one better in Luxembourg and she warmed up for this assignment with a Fed Cup win over Australian Open heroine Sofia Kenin last week.

The former French Open champion is a class act and should have the beating of Cornet, who has been on the decline for some time.
