Ava Max hot favourite to deny LadBaby and Ariana Grande festive top spot
American newcomer topped midweek chart
Chart announced 5.45pm Friday
It's a three-horse race for the Christmas number one slot with relative newcomer Ava Max was the odds-on favourite on Wednesday night having come in for support after topping the midweek chart update.
The American singer's Sweet But Psycho, which was released in August, has been at number two for the last two weeks and was a number-one hit in several European countries.
British YouTuber LadBaby is a 5-1 shot with his charity single We Built This City On Sausage Rolls. The track has been selling well but is probably too weak on the streaming front to hit the top spot.
On the drift at 5-1 is Ariana Grande despite Thank U, Next having been number one for the last six weeks.
That song was third on the midweek list but has been doing the best of the three contenders on Spotify's streaming chart over the last few days.
Grande backers have a second runner in the race with her new single Imagine lying fourth in the midweek standings.
