Third-round preview

Classy cuemen Ryan Day, Ricky Walden, Matthew Stevens, Joe Perry and Tom Ford join the Betfred World Championship qualifying trail on Sunday but the match to concentrate on from a betting point of view could be Stuart Carrington's clash with Luo Honghao.

Carrington is a more than capable break-builder and perhaps he hasn't achieved as much as his talent in the balls suggests he could have.

However, the Grimsby potter has made three appearances at the Crucible and he looks ready to move closer to qualifying again.

There's a lot to admire about Carrington's game, and although he hasn't enjoyed the best season, he showed enough when reaching the quarter-finals of the Riga Masters to suggest he should be too strong for Luo.

The Chinese youngster has potential and will no doubt improve with experience. However, it's questionable if his game is good enough to trouble a player of Carrington's standard at this stage of his career.
