Warrington v Castleford match preview

The knives are out for Warrington Wolves head coach Steve Price but he could be set for more misery when Castleford head to Cheshire on Friday night.

The Coral Challenge Cup holders have won only two of their first five Betfred Super League games after an insipid 36-0 thrashing at Leeds a week ago and aside from beating champions St Helens, they have yet to show that they will be among the frontrunners for the Grand Final.

Last week's defeat at Headingley was especially worrying for Price, who is under increasing pressure from the Wire faithful for failing to get the best out of a talented and expensively assembled squad.

They are favourites to get back to winning ways against Cas but the Tigers have won on three of their last four visits to the Halliwell Jones and have started the season well with four victories from their opening five encounters.

One of those head-to-head wins came in the 2019 playoffs, showing that Cas can perform when the pressure is on. Back them to keep the whimpering Wolves at bay with an eight-point buffer on the layers' alternative handicap.

Huddersfield's perfect start to the season came to an abrupt end with a home defeat to Wigan on Sunday and they are 16-point underdogs at champions St Helens, while Hull are asked to give up four points at Wakefield.
