Wakefield should be able to stay in touch at Headingley

Two weeks ago, Leeds were supposedly a club in crisis after their record-breaking loss at Castleford but tonight the Rhinos can go level on points with the table topping Tigers and Wigan if they land odds of 1-3 and defeat Wakefield.

Last time out, Leeds walloped Catalans 46-10 but things may well have been different if Brad Singleton had been sent off for a late hit on Greg Bird after ten minutes.

Singleton starts a six-game ban tonight and Leeds could find Wakey a tougher nut to crack than the Dragons.

Trinity have ground out back-to-back wins against St Helens and Salford and are 3-1 to repeat last year’s Betfred Super League and Boxing Day friendly wins at Headingley.

In the December clash, winger Tom Johnstone bagged a hat-trick and he is 50-1 to repeat that feat with Ladbrokes.

The visitors hope to have captain Danny Kirmond, Joe Arundel and Ben Jones-Bishop back from injury and look a decent bet in receipt of a ten-point start. They look a side of similar ability to Salford, who the Rhinos edged past 20-14 last month.

The stats suggest wooden-spoon favourites Widnes are a good bet with bet365’s 22-point buffer at Hull.

Denis Betts’s boys lost 30-10 at Hull last June and haven’t been beaten on their travels by more than tonight’s handicap since June 2015 – that’s a run of 25 games.

Hull have played 18 home matches since the start of last season and only two resulted in victories by more than 22 points for the Black & Whites.
