Match preview

Toulouse Olympique have fought valiantly against the drop in their inaugural Betfred Super League campaign but the French club's relegation could be confirmed on Thursday.

With three games of the regular season to play, Toulouse trail Wakefield by six points meaning they must win all of their remaining games and hope Trinity lose theirs and turn around a sizeable points difference.

Bookmakers expect Toulouse's one-season stay in the top flight to come to an end when their fellow French outfit Catalans visit the Stade Ernest-Wallon on Thursday, although the Dragons aren't exactly running hot themselves right now.

The fourth-placed visitors should have enough points in the bag to secure a top-six berth whatever happens between now and the playoffs, but just two wins in their last seven matches is hardly Championship-winning form.

Catalans ran out 18-10 winners when the sides met in Perpignan in April and banking on another narrow success for the Dragons looks the way to go.

There are three other matches on Thursday's card and a resurgent Wakefield are taken to secure their Super League status with victory at home to Hull KR.

Wakey have won three of their last four to move clear of Toulouse at the bottom, beating Wigan and Castleford in that run.

Opponents KR have slipped out of contention for the playoffs after winning only one of their last four matches and, given their motivated hosts have that extra something to play for, they may struggle at Belle Vue even in receipt of a four-point handicap start.

The final two contests could have a major say on who finishes in the top six. Sixth-placed Salford are 22-point favourites at home to a Hull side who are sinking without a trace, while Castleford, who started the round in seventh, are given a two-point start on their trip to Warrington.
