Match preview

Wigan Warriors and Catalans Dragons are doing their best to keep up with leaders St Helens in the Betfred Super League and both should secure victories on Sunday.

Catalans travel to Hull FC where they have had plenty of joy in recent times.

The Dragons have won four of their last five visits to the Black & Whites and they have scored at least 27 points in each of their last three appearances at the MKM Stadium.

Steve McNamara's men won both fixtures over Easter but are struggling to blow away teams.

Hull snatched a last-gasp win over Warrington on Monday after a Good Friday defeat at Hull KR in the derby and it is that inconsistency that make the Airlie Birds hard to fancy, while the absentee list is once again growing in west Hull.

Skipper Luke Gale is suspended, and forward Andre Savelio has been ruled out for the season. They join Joe Cator, Adam Swift, Cameron Scott, Connor Wynne and Josh Griffin on the sidelines.

On their day Hull can match any side, but when their day is due is hard to predict, and the safer play looks to be backing a comfortable victory for the visitors.

FC's last four league matches have featured winning margins of two, 12, four and eight, while Cats have scored more than 12 points in just two of their five away games this season so this could be a tight tussle, but things should be more straightforward when Wigan host Salford earlier on Sunday.

The Warriors have been rampant this season and only St Helens have got the better of the Cherry & Whites in 2022.

Wigan have scored 218 points in Super League this season, the second highest total behind Saints, and they rattled 54 past Wakefield last time out.

Jai Field bagged a brace in that game and it may pay to back the Wigan full-back to add to his 12 tries this season with the opening score in a comfortable home win at the DW Stadium.

Wigan have won the last two meetings between these two 20-0 and 16-6 but an 18-point handicap shouldn't hold any fears.
