Wigan's defeat at Leeds on Thursday night has left the door ajar for Huddersfield and Catalans, who meet in the south of France on Saturday, to stake their claim for second spot.

Huddersfield are a point better off than their French hosts after a strong run of form which has yielded seven victories from their last nine Super League outings.

Catalans need to regain the thread after losing their last two matches, to lowly Warrington at Magic Weekend and at a resurgent Salford Red Devils side last week.

The return of pack star Ben Garcia should give the Dragons some added grit and there is every chance that this could turn into an attritional arm wrestle.

Catalans have won eight of their ten home games this season, beating champions and league leaders St Helens in their latest match in Perpignan, and they get the narrow vote given injured playmaker Tui Lolohea is a big miss for the Giants.

But expect it to be close and the best approach could be to take the Dragons to win by one to 12 points.

Saturday's later match also comes from the south of France, where Toulouse will be hoping to continue their revival against Salford.

A run of three wins on the spin has hauled Olympique off the bottom of the table but Salford are running also hot, winning five of their last eight matches to put them firmly in the playoff picture.

Having thumped Catalans last week, the Red Devils could pull off a double of wins over Super League's French contingent this week.
