The best has very much been kept until last in the quarter-finals of the Rugby League World Cup.

Whereas the other three quarters were all one-sided betting heats, Tonga's meeting with fellow Pacific powerhouses Samoa is extremely tough to call.

Both sides have improved after inauspicious opening performances - Samoa were thumped by England while Tonga squeezed past Papua New Guinea - and that has teed things up perfectly for a rip-roaring Sunday showdown in Warrington.

It will be a slight contrast in styles with the power of Tonga's forwards going up against a silky Samoan spine, but big games are often won in the arm-wrestle and Samoa have to prove they can stomach the fight following their capitulation against England.

England's forwards bullied their Samoan counterparts at St James' Park a few weeks ago and Tonga coach Kristian Woolf will have identified that potential soft underbelly as an area to exploit.

It's nine wins apiece in 19 previous meetings between the Polynesian powers, but Tonga could make it to ten first and book their place in next week's semi-final.
