Rovers can test rivals Hull FC in Magic Weekend finale
Wakefield should slay Giants
Betfred Super League
Sky Sports Arena, from 1pm Sunday
The curtain comes down on the 12th annual Betfred Super League Magic Weekend in Newcastle on Sunday with the Hull derby the main event of the day.
Conditions should be perfect at St James’ Park. A dry day with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius is forecast.
Salford v Catalans1pm
Basement boys Catalans haven’t won an away game in 2018 and haven’t tasted victory on any of their previous visits to Newcastle, but the Dragons are no bigger than 6-5 to beat a badly out-of-sorts Salford.
The Red Devils were abject in last weekend’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup loss to Leigh and were hammered by Saints and Wigan prior to that, but playmaker Robert Lui returns from injury having missed all those defeats.
Salford are a far better side with Lui in the line-up. He contributed 12 points when Ian Watson’s team won 32-16 in the teams' last meeting at the AJ Bell Stadium at the end of March.
The Red Devils look a decent bet to uphold that form.
Recommendation
Salford

Huddersfield v Wakefield3.15pm
Huddersfield beat Wakefield 24-14 at the John Smith’s Stadium in the Challenge Cup recently but bookmakers make the Giants 6-4 underdogs to repeat that success.
Visa issues have delayed the arrival of Huddersfield’s new coach Simon Woolford from Australia so Chris Thorman remains in caretaker charge as they look to improve on an already impressive
Magic Weekend record of seven wins and a draw from 11 matches.
Wakefield can welcome back captain Danny Kirmond and their overall form this season is much better than their opponents'.
Their six matches against sides below them in the table have produced five victories including a comfortable 22-4 win over Huddersfield in March.
Ben Jones-Bishop, who bagged a brace that day, is evens to make a tryscoring return from injury.
However, it may pay to keep things simple and back Trinity to triumph.
Recommendation
Wakefield

Hull KR v Hull5.30pm
From a punting perspective, the toughest game of day two has been saved for last with two teams decimated by injuries doing battle in the Hull derby.
The Airlie Birds are probably the more badly hit with star half-backs Marc Sneyd and Albert Kelly among the absentees. Things are so bad that former England centre Kirk Yeaman has been persuaded to come out of retirement to play.
Rovers talisman Danny McGuire heads the casualty list for the underdogs. The Robins have lost all three league matches they have played without the former Leeds half-back this season.
They include a 30-22 defeat in the Easter derby when KR played 70 minutes against 12 men after Bureta Fairaimo was sent off.
However, Rovers have a good record against the old enemy on Magic Weekend. Despite going off underdogs in all eight meetings, they have won five times.
It feels like a match when almost anything could happen so a small bet on Rovers with a start of more than a converted try is suggested.
Recommendation
Hull KR +6.5
1pt 4-5 Sky Bet
