Match preview

Hull occupy the sixth and final playoff spot in the Betfred Super League but the challengers are queuing up behind the Airlie Birds, who are doing nothing to consolidate their position.

The Black & Whites have lost five of their last six Super League outings after suffering a 60-0 pasting at Wigan last weekend, the second time in three matches that they have conceded 60 points.

Almost half of the 439 points Hull have conceded this season have been in their recent woeful six-game stretch and worryingly their attack doesn't look like being able to bring an end to their alarming arrest, posting just 70 points in that time of which 28 came in one game.

Castleford have been one of the chief beneficiaries of Hull's slide, leapfrogging the Airlie Birds into fifth.

The Tigers, who have won four of their last five league outings, are two points better off than their hosts and a confident handicap selection to further bolster their top-six position.

First-tryscorer punters could do a lot worse than split stakes between Castleford wingers, Derrell Olpherts and Bureta Faraimo, at double-figure odds given Wigan flyer Bevan French crossed for a record seven tries in a Super League match against Hull last week, while Leeds winger Ash Handley dotted down five times as the Rhinos thrashed Hull 62-16 three weeks ago.

Inconsistent Warrington are eight-point favourites to see off Hull KR in the other match of the night, although the Wolves will know better than to take the Robins too lightly given they dumped them out of the playoffs last term.
