Sharks v Dragons
Sky Sports Arena, 9.05am Thursday

St George Illawarra Dragons produced arguably the performance of round one as they humbled Brisbane 34-12 on the opening night of the NRL season.

Judged by his starring role in that triumph over his former club, scrum-half Ben Hunt looks to have formed an instant rapport with Gareth Widdop in the halves and their ingenuity could help them maintain their perfect record against a Sharks side who looked a little disjointed in their opening defeat to the Cowboys.

Recommendation
Dragons
2pts 6-5 general

Roosters v Bulldogs
Sky Sports Arena, 7am Friday

Sydney Roosters were distinctly underwhelming in their opening 10-8 loss to Wests Tigers and they make limited appeal at long odds-on to get off the mark at the second time of asking against the Bulldogs.

Canterbury were eventually outclassed by reigning champions Melbourne Storm in Perth last week but this should be a much more even contests and they look the bet with a ten-point buffer.

Recommendation
Bulldogs +10
2pts 10-11 general

Broncos v Cowboys
Sky Sports Arena, 9.05am Friday

The headline game of round two comes from the Suncorp Stadium where Brisbane take on state rivals North Queensland.

The Cowboys made last year's Grand Final with a supercharged effort in the playoffs and the 2015 champions began where they left off with a confident display in victory over the Sharks.

Brisbane, meanwhile, have plenty to prove after being slayed by the Dragons in their opener and could struggle to repel Johnathan Thurston and pals.

Recommendation
Cowboys -4
2pts Evs general
