Castleford Tigers v Wakefield Trinity match preview

Castleford saw their unbeaten start to the 2020 Betfred Super League campaign ended in Perpignan last weekend but the Tigers could roar back to life against Yorkshire rivals Wakefield.

The short hop to the Jungle has been a painful one for Trinity in recent years but last weekend's home victory over Warrington has instilled belief that they can end a 13-match losing run at Cas stretching back to 2015.

However, further derby disappointment could await them with Tigers boss Daryl Powell having the luxury of being able to call on a near-full strength squad.

Young half-backs Jake Trueman and Danny Richardson are still developing as a playmaking axis but there is little doubt they will turn into a fearsome duo capable of pulling apart opposition defences as their partnership develops.

Trueman ran the show in Castleford's opening win over new boys Toronto and he is likely to have an influential role in any Tigers success. He could be worth backing in the man-of-the-match market when bookmakers have priced it up.

Few pundits would have selected Huddersfield as the club who would boast the last remaining unbeaten record in Super League but the Giants could continue to defy the critics.

Simon Woolford's men have started the campaign with wins at Catalans and last season's beaten Grand Finalists Salford and they are deserved favourites to make it three out of three against a Hull KR side down on numbers and who were last week walloped 52-10 by Leeds.

The Wolves take on the Wolfpack in Friday's final encounter with Warrington 18-point favourites to bounce back from their defeat at Wakefield against winless Toronto.
