Match preview
Wigan have had to watch title rivals St Helens disappear into the distance in the Betfred Super League with the free-scoring Warriors held back by a lack of consistency.
The Betfred Challenge Cup winners have had a good season so far and although they have been pretty ruthless, they keep letting silly results get in the way.
That's something Saints have avoided, bar last week's golden-point win at Wakefield, and why there is a six-point gap between the two old rivals at the top of the table.
Wigan are the competition's leading scorers with 570 points from 20 matches at an average of 28.5 points per game but losses at Leeds last week, Hull FC in round 13, Huddersfield and Catalans have seen them come up short when it matters, while they have also lost both league games with St Helens.
It is hard to fathom how a team can beat Hull FC 60-0 one week and then follow it up a week later with a 42-12 drubbing at Leeds as the Warriors have done in their last two outings.
They need to finish the regular season strongly and can start in this fixture against injury-ravaged Hull KR.
The Robins love a dust-up with the big boys and may have been fancied as a wager in some form but they were left with 13 fit men against Warrington last week and head to the DW Stadium for this contest with a youthful, inexperienced squad.
Wigan have won five of their last six meetings with KR including a 24-10 triumph in round one of this campaign, but things could be more comfortable this time around and a handicap line of 18 points can be covered.
Wigan's wingers have been in fantastic form and they should be backed to continue their scoring spree.
Bevan French has scored 21 tries in 14 matches this season, including a record-breaking haul of seven in the romp over Hull FC a fortnight ago.
Liam Marshall, meanwhile has bagged 12 tries this season and with opportunities likely to come aplenty, backing both to bag at least a brace could also pay off.
