The scrap for survival at the foot of the Betfred Super League is getting more intense by the week with five teams still in danger of falling through the trap door to the Betfred Championship.

London remain odds-on to finish bottom but the Broncos' refusal to throw in the towel has left Leeds and Huddersfield looking anxiously over their shoulders.

Both teams have picked up a couple of recent victories to keep their heads above water and the Rhinos are 6-1 to go down with the Giants quoted at 12-1.

Bookmakers are struggling to split the pair for this crucial clash at the John Smith’s Stadium, with Huddersfield slight favourites.

The Giants haven’t won at home since May and Leeds have won only three times on their travels in 2019.

The forecast showers could have an impact too and this looks a difficult match to assess.

The teams finished all-square in this fixture in 2014 and 2015 and an 80-minute draw and Golden Point extra-time can’t be ruled out. That’s a 25-1 chance.

A tight, tense contest with the feel of a knockout match seems likely and both teams are likely to take the opportunity to keep the scoreboard moving via penalties if the chance arises.

Backing the opening score to be a penalty could pay dividends.

Huddersfield winger Jermaine McGillvary is set to make his 300th career appearance. The England star is 10-11 to mark the occasion with a try and 9-1 to notch the opener.

St Helens can move a dozen points clear at the Super League summit if they see off Wakefield.

It’s the first game since Saints boss Justin Holbrook announced he will be joining Gold Coast Titans next season and the table-toppers’ coach continues to rotate his squad with more decisive matches still to come.

St Helens have underperformed in their last two outings but Wakefield have lost nine of their last ten games and have lost their last three matches by a combined margin of 84 points. It looks a match for punters to leave alone.
