London Broncos are 1-3 with the competition sponsors to finish bottom of the Betfred Super League, but the capital side are doing their best to save their top-flight status.

Last week’s stunning 23-22 golden-point victory over runaway league leaders St Helens highlighted the fighting spirit in the southern side, who drew level on ten points with fellow strugglers Hull KR.

It wasn’t the first time the Broncos have upset the odds this season with Wakefield (twice), Wigan and Leeds all having their colours lowered by Danny Ward’s men.

However, four of their five victories have come on home soil, or rather artificial turf, and a trip to the south of France to take on high-flying Catalans could see them brought back down to earth with a bump.

The Dragons ran out 39-6 winners when the sides met in London in April and it’s hard to see how the Broncos can avoid a similar outcome.

Catalans are red-hot 1-6 favourites with Sky Bet for victory following a run of five wins from their last seven matches and they have won six of their eight home games this season.

The Dragons’ den is not a place for the faint-hearted and the Perpginan men will be desperate to get back in front of their partisan crowd having not played there for almost a month.

London have won just one of their last 15 meetings with the French outfit and it’s unlikely they will double that tally this week.

Catalans were soundly beaten 34-4 by Warrington last week and coach Steve McNamara has made four changes to his side.

Micky McIlorum, Sam Moa, Matt Whitley and Lambert Belmas are ruled out through injury and are replaced by Antoni Maria, Jodie Broughton, Mickael Goudemand and Remi Casty.

Nathan Mason replaces Sadiq Adebiyi for the Broncos, who are handed an 16-point start on the handicap, but that may not be enough and backing the Dragons to cover at evens looks the way to go.

Hull KR’s struggles have been mentioned and they reacted last week by sacking coach Tim Sheens and replacing him with former Warrington boss Tony Smith.

Smith has been brought in to save the Robins from relegation and he almost made the perfect start when his new side lost 19-18 to Wigan at the KCom Craven Park last Sunday.

Rovers are back on home soil when they entertain another of the big guns but it could be another 80 minutes of misery for themat the hands of Smith’s former employers.

They haven’t won any of their last seven meetings with Warrington, losing six and drawing once, and the corresponding fixture last season saw them thumped 54-6. Such a wide margin of defeat should be avoided this time, but the Wolves to win by 11 points or more looks a decent bet.
