Australia are ruthless down their left edge

Rugby League World Cup semi-final
Premier Sports, 9am Friday

As expected Australia have charted a serene course to the last four of the World Cup.

Fiji stand in the way of the Kangaroos and another world final and it would take a brave punter to bet against them being involved in next week's tournament showpiece.

Australia are just 1-15 to beat the Fijians, who are a 16-1 hope to send further shockwaves through the international game after last week’s remarkable 4-2 win over New Zealand.

That was undoubtedly a great achievement but the fact it was so close on the scoreboard despite Fiji having a much greater share of the ball and field position is a worry against the Kangaroos.

The Aussies, meanwhile, need no second invitation to post points and their left edge in particular is in fine fettle.

The bulk of their tries have come down that flank and of the players set to line up on that side, centre Josh Dugan looks a great price to cross for a third try of the tournament.
