Thai teen terror to chase home the leading contenders

Justin Rose will take a three-shot lead into the final day of the Indonesian Masters, the flagship event on the Asian Tour, but the Englishman still potentially has 28 holes to play.

Thunderstorms forced an early postponement of the third round while Rose was standing on the ninth tee. The 7-2 ante-post favourite is no bigger than 1-3 to convert his advantage into victory. A 54-hole event is a strong possibility if further bad weather arrives.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat, who won on the Asian Development Tour last week despite suffering with a bad back, is tied for second place. The Thai still has a sore back but it has not stopped him laying down the main challenge to Rose.

Aphibarnrat is a 6-1 chance to triumph at the Royale Jakarta Club. Promising youngster Scott Vincent shares second place with Aphibarnrat, but the Zimbabwean pulled his drive into trees at the par-five ninth, so will resume play on the back foot.

Rose, who is yet to tee off at the ninth and will expect to make a straightforward birdie, is in control of the tournament. If Aphibarnrat can stay loose enough to produce his best, the three-time European Tour winner is by the far the main danger. This is a new challenge for Vincent, who is up against two proven champions.

Aphibarnrat and his compatriot, Phachara Khongwatmai, should give Rose plenty to think about in the final round. The 2013 US Open champion has found a winning groove in recent weeks, though, claiming the WGC-HSBC Champions title in China and the Turkish Airlines Open trophy, and will be confident of repelling the chasing pack.

Rose has gone about this trip to south-east Asia in an impressively professional manner and an excellent opening round of 62 put him immediately in command. The earthquake which rocked Indonesia is not set to impact the tournament. Play is scheduled to resume at 11.15pm UK and Ireland time on Saturday night. Another cloudy, stormy day is forecast.

Sky Bet have a market betting without Rose and Aphibarnrat for which Khongwatmai looks the best option at 7-2. The teen terror appears to be developing into a serious force and has enough power to tear up a soft Royale Jakarta, where he finished second last year.
