World number one Dustin Johnson shot a sparkling second-round 63 to move into the lead after day two of the WGC-HSBC Champions as he chases a fifth victory of a stellar 2017 at Sheshan International.
Johnson, who won this event in 2013, shot a bogey-free round with seven birdies on the back nine which saw him move to 13-under-par for the tournament and one shot ahead of US Open champion Brooks Koepka.
Bookmakers slashed Johnson to just 10-11 at the halfway stage while Koepka is no bigger than 3-1 to overhaul his Presidents Cup colleague. Justin Rose and Kiradech Aphibarnrat lead the chasing pack but are both four shots behind the lead.
It's tight at the top after the first round of the Sanderson Farms Championship at CC of Jackson with five players locked in a share of the lead.
Ryan Armour, Andrew Landry, Conrad Shindler, JJ Spaun and Wyndham Clark all shot opening six-under-par rounds of 66 but they are stalked by a number of contenders, with 17 men at four-under or better.
Anyone looking for an interest in the second-round action in Mississippi can consider backing Johnson Wagner to see off Shawn Stefani and Steven Bowditch in the 6.05pm threeball.
Wagner opened up with a composed 69 at Jackson where his accuracy off the tee was rewarded by three birdies and no dropped shots.
Stefani was much more inconsistent and he was forced to rely on a strong putting round to stay competitive at level par. Bowditch has been in awful form for some time now and an opening 75 inspires no confidence that he will improve.
Recommendation
