If Great Britain's gold rush at London 2012 was kick-started by Super Saturday then for Tokyo 2020 it may well be magic Monday after a stunning day of sporting success at the Olympics was capped by Tom Daley making a major splash in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year betting.

Diver Daley and partner Matty Lee grabbed gold in the men's synchronised 10m platform event, ending China's dominance in dramatic circumstances, while breaststroke beast Adam Peaty made no mistake in the 100m and Tom Pidcock got himself to the top of podium with success in the mountain biking.

Daley, who claimed gold for the first time at his fourth Olympic Games, had been 80-1 to win Spoty with Ladbrokes, but is now second favourite at 11-2 with Paddy Power, BoyleSports and Betfair following his emotional Tokyo triumph.

Peaty is generally available at 10-1, however, the swimming star was just 11th in the final voting despite winning at Rio in 2016 when Jamie Vardy was the only non-Olympian to make the top ten.

Ace athlete Dina Asher-Smith heads the market at 9-2 - she goes into action in Tokyo at the end of the week as the 100m heats kick off the track and field events.
