Circuit specialist Marc Marquez hard to oppose in Texas

The Circuit of the Americas has belonged to Marc Marquez ever since it was added to the circuit in 2013, and even though he starts fourth on the grid in Texas, the Spaniard is no better than 2-7 for a six successive victory.

A perfect record of five poles and five race wins was blemished after Marquez was pushed back down the grid despite setting the fastest time in qualifying.

But his blistering pace in qualifying and dominance on the track are unquestionable and the short price about Marquez getting back to the front and staying there look fully justified. The four-time champion has won won 12 straight races in the USA dating back to his first Moto2 race at Indianapolis in 2011.

Maverick Vinales starts on pole - Marquez was penalised for interfering with Yamaha rival Vinales - and is a 9-1 shot alongside Valentino Rossi.

Riders have been critical of the bumpy surface at the track and Marquez suffered fall in practice, but his record shows just how comfortable he is at the venue.

His margin of victory last year was a fraction over three seconds, and it's a 1-2 shot that he wins by more than three seconds today, as he has done in three of his five successes.

But given that he has always started on pole in past years but has to make his way through the top of the grid this time, the 8-1 about a winning margin of two to three seconds looks big.
