Laurie Canter to win Made in HimmerLand
1pt 9-1 Coral, Ladbrokes (win-only market)

Story so far

Bernd Wiesberger stayed on course for a successful Made in HimmerLand title defence, carding a third-round 68 to take a one-shot lead into Sunday at HimmerLand, Denmark.

The Austrian giant, 20-1 second-favourite ante-post, is 6-5 market leader with 18 holes to play. Wiesberger is seeking the eighth European Tour victory of his career, but his first since October, 2019.

Alexander Bjork, winless since his 2018 China Open breakthrough, is alone is second place, with European Tour maiden Laurie Canter a further two shots behind in third spot.

Richard Bland, British Masters champion at the age of 48 the week before last, is tied for fourth spot in Denmark. Pre-tournament favourite, Robert MacIntyre, is tied for 42nd place, ten shots adrift of Wiesberger.

Final-round preview

Bernd Wiesberger has a 100 percent record at HimmerLand - played once, won once - and he is well suited to the course. Rain softened the track in the build-up and the Austrian has found the perfect place to find some sparkle after a quiet spell.

Punters who trusted Wiesberger for a revival at a happy hunting ground have been rewarded with three solid rounds. In his last nine tournaments, he has failed to better 31st place, but HimmerLand is the weakest field he has faced during this barren spell.

Wiesberger, a two-time Rolex Series champion, obviously deserves favouritism going into the final round. A three-putt bogey at the 18th in round three, though, reminded everyone - most importantly the man himself - of his weakness. This strong ball-striker is prone to prolonged flat periods on the greens - and one may come in Denmark on Sunday.

With sunny, windless skies forecast for round four, birdies should be plentiful, and Wiesberger will probably not get away with a cold flat stick. Rounds in the low 60s can be expected unless the pins get tucked away, so Wiesberger seems likely to have a few players charging at him from deep on the leaderboard.

A low-scoring day is probably not ideal for Alexander Bjork, either, given his lack of firepower. The Swede is one of the shortest drivers on the circuit. There appears every chance of the final twoball treading water and turning this into a wide-open event.

Laurie Canter, who carded a 60 in the Italian Open last year, must be sensing a massive opportunity for a breakthrough triumph. The Bath man was brilliant last season, suffering a series of near-misses, and he seems a huge dangerman from three behind with 18 holes to play.

Canter, a 35-1 Racing Post Sport pre-tournament recommendation, has slowly but surely improved since returning from a long break at the start of this month, with form figures of 48-40-30 from his three May events. He found a gallop with a Saturday 64 and the 17-2 chance should enjoy his place in the penultimate Sunday twoball.

Jason Scrivener (25-1), 23rd in the US PGA Championship last week, is capable of entering the equation from four shots behind, while two-time Tour champ Kurt Kitayama (25-1) and promising Danish youngster Niklas Norgaard Moller (80-1 with bet365) are the other two runners on offer an attractive odds.

Canter would be the outright selection for punters yet to get involved. He is available at 9-1 with Coral and Ladbrokes in their win-only market.

Wiesberger and Bjork are scheduled to tee off at 12.30pm UK and Ireland time in the final match. Canter and Kitayama are out at 12.20pm.
