Ryan Fox, Victor Perez and Nicolai Hojgaard comprise the marquee threeball on the second afternoon of the Ras al Khaimah Championship at Al Hamra Golf Club.

Fox, labouring with illness over the last fortnight, reported feeling better in round one, the Kiwi carding a five-under-par 67. Perez, winner in Abu Dhabi the week before last, slumped to a 73, while Hojgaard recovered from a poor start to open with a 71.

Hojgaard would be the selection for punters wishing to play on the match which will get most coverage from the Sky Sports cameras, but the preferred Friday treble is Tom McKibbin (7.50am UK and Ireland time), Dan Bradbury (8.20am) and Thorbjorn Olesen (8.50am).

McKibbin is a rising star of the DP World Tour – a Northern Irishman with great potential – and a Thursday 70 has set the youngster up for a strong week. McKibbin, who has posted 12 top-20s on the Challenge Tour and the DPWT since July, can outgun Bryce Easton and Nathan Kimsey.

Bradbury won the Joburg Open in fine style at the end of November and he has not missed a cut since. Clearly blessed with plenty of talent and growing ever more comfortable on the DPWT, Bradbury looks the value against Edoardo Molinari and Calum Hill.

Olesen hit his ball superbly in Dubai last week, suffering on the greens, and it was similar story in round one of the Ras. The Dane has not suddenly become a bad putter – he has always been fantastic with the flat stick – so expect normal service to resume soon. Olesen is the most appealing threeball option of the day against Nicolai Colsaerts and Yannik Paul. The McKibbin, Bradbury, Olesen treble pays more than 17-1 with bet365.
