Galway should not be favourites for today’s Connacht final and Roscommon can exploit their weaknesses to claim their first provincial crown since 2010.

Today’s intriguing Connacht clash pits together a team who got to the semi-final of Division 1 and a team who failed to gain promotion from Division 2, yet the Division 2 side enter the tie as favourites following a shock semi-final success over last year’s All-Ireland semi-finalists Mayo.

But Mayo showed yesterday are no great shakes so perhaps too much has been read into that success. Galway are favourites based on one display but Roscommon have achieved far more in the last 18 months, having firmly established themselves as a Division 1 team.
