Goals on the menu as Dublin can make up for shock Monaghan defeat at Croke Park

Dublin v Galway
Croke Park, 7pm

Now is the time to catch Dublin, as Monaghan found out last week, but Galway do not have the personnel to inflict two defeats in a row on the All-Ireland champions and a comfortable home success looks in store at Croke Park.

Dublin were hot favourites to account for Monaghan in round one but a blistering start, which saw them sail into an early six-point lead with the help of a Niall Scully goal, could not steer them to success.

The 2-13 to 1-13 final scoreline was fair and Jim Gavin has a few headaches ahead in trying to pick his best and fittest 15 for the visit of Galway to Croke Park.

When these two sides met in last year's league, they drew 0-13 apiece, but the Galway side who lined out that night were a much stronger unit than the one who will face Dublin this time.

Galway coped without Damien Comer and Paul Conroy for the visit of Cavan but this is a much tougher assignment and Dublin have the potential to carve open their rearguard.

Dublin scored 13 goals on their way to winning last year's All-Ireland and, with most of their first choice attackers available, they look overpriced at 13-8 to score two goals or more.

Recommendations
Over 1.5 Dublin goals
2pts 13-8 Betfair, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power

Donegal v Meath
Ballybofey, 7pm

Neither Donegal nor Meath managed to find the net in round one, despite both sides winning convincingly, but that could change as the two promotion hopefuls go head-to-head in round two at Ballybofey.

Donegal are without a whole host of their star names, most notably Michael Murphy, but they still have Jamie Brennan and Ciaran Thompson to call upon, while Michael Largan caught the eye against Clare last weekend.

Meath coughed up a converted penalty in their win over a limited Tipperary outfit last Sunday but they were lucky not to concede more as only bad handling prevented the visitors from netting again.

This game has net action written all over it and the 6-4 on offer about three or more goals appeals.

Recommendation
Over 2.5 goals
2pts 6-4 Paddy Power

Laois v Louth
Portlaoise, 7pm

It wasn't long ago when Louth were ranked higher than Laois but, judging by last week's results in Division 3, there is an ocean between the two sides at present.

Laois began their campaign with an impressive win away to Down, hot favourites to take the Division 3 crown, whereas Louth were unable to get the better of an understrength Longford side who were missing their Mullinalaghta contingent. That was a big backward step.

Laois were beaten Leinster finalists last year and look likely to make further progress in 2019. Louth look to be going only one way and that is down to Division 4.

Laois, on home soil, to defy a four-point handicap looks one of the best wagers of the weekend.

Recommendation
Laois -4
3pts Evs Betfair, Paddy Power
