Expect plenty of goals when Banner boys take on Clare
Clare v Tipperary
3pm, Premier Sports & RTE2 Saturday
Tipperary have scored nine goals in three summer showdowns and Clare have bagged four in two so it does not take a genius to work out that these two teams know how to find the net.
With that in mind, it is hard to resist the 15-8 BoyleSports are offering about five or more match goals in today's All-Ireland quarter-final at the newly revamped Pairc Ui Chaoimh in Cork. There could be lots of goals on the menu and a cracking contest looks to be in store.
Tipperary are still the likeliest winners of the Liam McCarthy. They have got over their Munster blip on the evidence of their dazzling display against Dublin. The Premier County are the only team capable of racking up a score like 6-26 against a top-eight team. They have cranked it up a notch.
Tipp have without doubt the best attack in the country. Seamus Callanan, John 'Bubbles' O'Dwyer and John McGrath would strike fear into any defence and all three have goals as their first thought when they get possession of the sliotar within 30 metres of goal.
The way Tipperary played against Dublin was fascinating as they managed to create so much space in the danger zone. Clare will not be so naive but the Banner boys' weakest line is their full-back line and it is hard to envisage them keeping a clean sheet.
Indeed, if you told them right now that they would concede only two goals to Tipperary they would probably take that.
Although Aaron Shanagher is out, this Clare attack has goals written all over it too. They opened up Limerick time and again in the Munster semi-final, scoring 3-17 even though they looked as though they were still in third gear for most of the game.
Conor McGrath has scored goals against Limerick and Cork, while Shane O'Donnell got 2-2 in the win over the Treaty boys. Both teams' best asset is their powerful attack and that should show on the scoreboard.
Who will book their All-Ireland semi-final ticket? It has to be Tipperary. They are coming back to the boil nicely and it will take a mammoth Clare performance to end the defence of their title.
The handicap of five points looks just about right so it is probably wiser to stay away from that and focus on the total match goals.
