Group F preview

Experience is said to count for a lot and bookmakers believe it could go a long way to deciding an intriguing Group F in favour of seasoned campaigners Belgium and Croatia.

The two nations filled the World Cup podium alongside champions France four years ago in Russia and the layers see them as a cut above section rivals Morocco and Canada.

Belgium are odds-on to win the group and their recent history makes them tough to oppose for section honours.

The Red Devils haven’t put a foot wrong in the group stage of their last three major tournaments and, although Croatia impressively topped a section containing Argentina and Nigeria at the 2018
World Cup, their claims aren’t quite as strong.

Croatia may not be as sharp as when they reached the final in 2018 but they remain a classy outfit.

Croatia have dished out a few reminders this year in the Nations League so they can’t be overlooked and make more appeal to finish second despite the potential of Morocco and Canada.

On paper, Morocco would seem capable of springing a surprise but it’s hard to ignore the warning signs of an inexperienced head coach, out-of-form stars and a poor World Cup record.

Canada boast some raw attacking talent but may struggle to make their mark given they lack the all-round quality of their group rivals.

Belgium and Croatia could have had easier draws but there are enough doubts over their rivals to suggest the pair should go through, with the Red Devils taking top spot.
